How to Play
2's UP! is a multiplayer shedding card game. Empty your hand before the other players to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on.
Objective
Play cards from your hand until you have none left. The game ends when all but one player have emptied their hand.
Players are ranked by finish order: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on. The last player still holding cards finishes last.
Card ranks
Cards rank from 3 (lowest) through 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A, up to 2 (highest).
When comparing plays, the highest card in your combination must beat the highest card currently on the table. Suits break ties — for the same rank, ♠ is lowest, then ♣, ♦, and ♥ is highest.
Getting started
Sign in and open the lobby. Create a new game or join an open one. Mark yourself ready when you are set to play.
The game owner starts the match once at least two players are ready. The deck is shuffled and dealt, and the player holding the lowest card in the game goes first.
Dealing
With 2 players, each receives 17 cards and 18 cards are discarded from the deck.
With 3 players, each receives 17 cards and 1 card is discarded.
With 4 or more players, all 52 cards are dealt as evenly as possible.
Playing a trick
On your turn, play a valid combination that beats the current play on the table, or pass.
Your play must match the current play type (singles, pairs, trips, and so on) unless you are breaking a single with quads or a breaker (see Two killer below).
When the table is empty at the start of a new trick, your play must include your lowest card.
Passing
If you cannot or do not want to beat the current play, pass. Play moves to the next player who has not passed.
When every other player with cards has passed, the trick resets. The player who made the last play starts a new trick with any valid combination that includes their lowest card.
Two killer
Normally you must beat the highest card on the table. There is one exception: when the current play is a single 2, you may beat it with quads or a breaker even though those are different play types.
Two killer does not apply against a pair (or larger set) of 2s — you must beat those with a higher pair (or matching combination) in the usual way.
